We have a buyer but the guy is dragging his heels. He wants to “see” the pipes to the septic tank. I told him all inspections are paid for by him as per his offer. The Cost is $300 at least. So I told him we close on or before Nov. 5th or we start over. Keep us in your prayers.
Peace to everyone.

Z House Again
Well, I'm dead tired and I still think it is funny. We have to open the septic tank, right? So, the inspector poked holes all over the yard to find the line and the tank. Pop and I dug a 4 foot hole where the guy said the tank was. No tank, not a pipe either. (See Photo)
Exhausted, Pop says, "Call in an excavator."
After several calls and not reaching anyone, I say a prayer and call Spectrum Construction for whom I have done embroidery work. I get a hold of Jim the manager. Explaining my plight, I ask Jim for some help and advice. He says, "I'll be there in 1/2 hour." "God bless you!" I say and give him the address. "We'll be there digging." I cry as I hang up.
Jim shows up in 15 minutes with a shovel, hammer, and metal rod. He and Pop did 4 more holes, each closer to the back of the house.
Finally, the men move the concrete pad that is right next to the blocks. They had to use a pick to loosen the soil. With each hole they are making more and more jokes, like, "We should charge them for aerating the yard." and " Longie, if you don't help us out here soon I'm going to go stomp on your grave! JUST kidding!" Finally, with that 6th rocky hole (Dad tossed all the rocks from the yard up by the house.) they find the pipe. It made a 45 degree turn right out of the wall and headed east.
Jim aerates the lawn some more. They dig a trench following the pipe. That would be a long hole # 7, dug mainly by Jim, who sent Pop and I to back fill 5 of the holes as they are no where near where the tank would be. I think we were just getting in his way.
I offered Jim drinks, crackers, Fig Newtons but he would not take anything. Oh, did I tell you it was raining, sort of? But, we were all working so hard that we were wet with sweat anyway.
Jim sights a line on the trench and our little dried flowers that we put in the holes that struck pipe(it was cute), walks back about 20 feet, sights again, sinks the rod and Hot Dog, hits the top of the tank! We think.
I don't know how well you can see this, but Pop is head down in the hole checking to see it this is the lid to the septic tank. AND IT IS! The men had been asking me to flush the toilet to see if they could hear the noise. I asked if they wanted me to do it again now, but, for some reason, they said they would have none of that.
Now, we had to dig the hole larger so that Ashtabula Septic could come in, pump out the tank and put on a riser, so no one has to go through this again.
Do you see where the tank is? Almost to the green house, about 60 feet from where the expert said it would be. If we had brought in an excavator, we would have had a hole big enough to put on an addition with basement before we found the septic tank.
God Bless Jim! For his 4-5 hours of digging he charged us NOTHING! He is going to get a case of good beer, that's for sure and maybe his own "Jim Blanky"! Some of you will know what I mean by that. He sure showed us what life is for, helping and loving even strangers with septic problems.
Pray for Jim, and us, and your family, and the world, and your friends, and................

Saturday before Sunrise
Sleeping well, enjoying the freedom of getting the quilt top finished, and getting my eyes checked; I was rudely jolted awake before sunrise with the sound of three shotgun blasts. I run to the window to see whats going of at such an hour. What do I see(after asking myself what the hell I'm doing)? DUCK hunters, equipped with 30 fake geese and ducks, huge blinds, canoes and goose calls! Now they are but 50 to 100 feet away from the shore. Soon, the whole neighborhood is up and watching. Kids are fishing from peers, boaters are floating by at all angles. Does this make them leave, well not until after noon. This can't be legal! I could not see anyway that they could shoot with out chancing hitting someone or thing.
Pray, pray, pray!

What a Friday.
The sunrise was cool and sweet, the air fresh and warm, all in all a wonderful day to be outside. However, I was in the basement until eleven finishing the quilt top. At 11:30 the dog and I went for a nice walk. At noon I left for my 2:20 eye appointment. At 12:45 I found the place, then went down by the lake to eat and visit with the local shop keepers.
My eyes are "actually very healthy for your age. The problem you are having is due to your last birthday." What a nice way to say get use to it lady, you're old. Anyway, I have new glasses and eye drops.
While killing time waiting for my $300 glasses (with discount), I was looking around Sears when I got a call from Pop. His Sister, Joann, called. Her son (only 50) died suddenly. His wife came home and he was dead on the floor. How awful is that?
When I got back to the house, it was dark and I could not see the numbers on the alarm pad. Well, I did not get the alarm disarmed in time. I was on the phone with a friend when the police showed up. I had to give them my drivers license and show them I had a key to the house, which they tried out to be sure it worked. This all is funny except I don't feel in a funny mood what with Pop's call and all.
So please pray for David and his family.
Remember to pray for your own family too.

Wednesday in Michigan
Today was a lovely day. Worked on the OVCWA quilt until I needed a second opinion, so I called Chris in Romeo, MI who came to my aide. She drove down and we spent the rest of the afternoon together. We rearranged the quilt blocks and made some decisions. After eating at the Cracker Barrel (on Tom) we both got migraine-ish head aches. Strange that we both got them because she had chicken pot pie and coffee and I had apple chicken and tea. There must have been some flavoring on the chicken, I guess.
The headaches did not get too bad and did not last long. They went away while we were in JoAnn Fabrics getting batting and backing for the quilt, well ... pretty much went away. From there we stopped into see her daughter, who worked near by. She works for a dentist who's office is in a shopping plaza, ssOOO, we, of course, needed to check out some stores. I found some picture frames imported from China by Zima Imports. I got two for $4.00. I also got a couple of jackets.
Every day I have been taking the dog for a walk. It is interesting to note that there are as many homes for sale here as in Ashtabula. The yards are about the size of my living room but are neatly kept. Heaven forbid there be a WEED in the grass. There are the usual flower and shrub types, save one. In many yards you will find milk-weed plants tucked in with the inpatients and mums. I thought it very strange, unless they all have a thing for milk-weed pods.
Another interesting thing is the tiny size of most of the homes. Many look like 4 room ranches with no basement. Then you would see a sprawling modern thing with a limo parked in the drive, which took up any lawn there might have been, front and back. And, all the homes on the lake front have NO TRESPASSING and PRIVATE PROPERTY and MY DOG CAN GET TO THE FENCE IN 3 SECONDS, CAN YOU signs all over. Friendly people here.(not) Really I can see why the signs are there. If not, they would have everyone in their back yard swimming or fishing.
I tried out my new camera some. Samples are on my Flickr site.
Well that's all the news I have for today. Remember to talk to God today. He may be wondering why He has not heard from you lately.

Michigan
I am here in Michigan with everything and nothing to do. I started to work on a quilt top that I promised the OVCWA girls to get together. Discovering that I forgot thread, I have spent the rest of the day getting sort-of lost. I knew where I was and where I wanted to go but had trouble getting from where I was to where I needed to be.
I did succeed in, getting thread, vinyl that Carol wanted, a Nikkor lens, and food, and took the dog for a long walk after our big dinner. That was all fun but not very productive on the quilt top. I talked to my friend, Chris, who is recovering from the OVCWA event I missed last week end. I wonder if she will be going to the one this week end? I will not, of course, I don't think this pampered pooch could stand the noise.
I've taken some shots with my new camera. I down loaded them on my laptop computer. I'll see if there is a way to post some on my Flickr site.
God Bless. Remember what life is REALLY for.
